This past weekend, I had the privilege of speaking with a group of dedicated parents at a free clinic in New Brunswick, hosted in partnership with NJ United Athletic Club (NJ United AC). As the founder of US Soccer Parent, my mission is to provide resources and support to soccer parents across the country. This event was a wonderful example of how collaboration can benefit the entire soccer community.
NJ United AC is a semi-professional soccer team competing in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). Their commitment to excellence on the field is matched by their desire to make a positive impact off the field. While NJ United AC does not operate youth programs, they have shown tremendous leadership by providing Free Clinics for the local community and partnering with us to provide valuable resources and education for parents involved in youth soccer.
The parents who attended the clinic were incredibly engaged, asking insightful questions about youth player development, navigating the youth soccer landscape, and supporting their children’s athletic journeys. Their enthusiasm reaffirmed the importance of parent education and involvement in youth soccer. At US Soccer Parent, we believe that informed and empowered parents are essential for player success and community growth.
What truly inspires me about NJ United AC is their grassroots approach to building community connections. In Europe, even amateur/semi-pro and lower-division clubs are deeply embedded in their local neighborhoods, fostering pride and involvement that fuel the sport’s growth. NJ United AC is bringing this spirit to New Jersey, demonstrating that community engagement is just as important as on-field results.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the NJ United AC team for their vision and partnership, and to the parents who participated for your curiosity and commitment. Together, we are creating a stronger, more connected soccer community in New Jersey.
