Who we are

Every article on this site is written, edited, and published by our own editorial team. We are not owned by a club, league, academy, or recruiting service.

What we cover, and what we don't

We exist to help parents understand how youth soccer in this country actually works — how leagues and divisions fit together, what pathways exist, what things cost, and what decisions families face at each age. We write explainers, guides, and news analysis for the parent who is trying to make a good decision without a background in the sport’s structure.

We are an education and information platform. We are not scouts, agents, or a placement service. We do not evaluate individual players, contact college coaches on anyone’s behalf, or promise exposure. When families write to us for individual advice, we point them to resources and environments rather than offering personal advising.

How we source and report

We work from primary documents whenever they exist. That means league handbooks and rulebooks, federation and association policy documents, NCAA legislation, published financial and participation data, and official statements — read directly, not summarized from someone else’s summary.

Specifically:

  • We name our sources. If a rule comes from a league handbook or a governing body’s policy, we say which one and link to it where a public link exists.

  • We separate fact from analysis. Official announcements are reported as announcements. Our reading of what they mean for families is clearly labeled as analysis or opinion.

  • We use careful language about things that aren’t final. When a governing body signals an intention rather than a finished plan, we say “signals” or “discusses” — not “will.”

  • We date what changes. Rules, fees, league membership, and seasonal deadlines move. Time-sensitive facts are date-stamped, and evergreen guides are reviewed and updated rather than left to go stale.

  • We do not aggregate. We don’t repackage other outlets’ reporting as our own. When we build on another publication’s work, we credit and link to it.

We reflect community conversation carefully. Parent comments on our social channels sometimes reveal a real confusion point worth reporting, and we may quote them — anonymized, and grouped by theme rather than singled out.

Corrections

We would rather be corrected than be wrong.

If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, email editor@ussoccerparent.com with the page and the specific issue. We review every message.

When we get something wrong, we correct the article itself and add a dated note explaining what changed. We don’t quietly delete or rewrite reporting to erase an error. For minor updates — a broken link, a typo, a refreshed seasonal detail — we update the page without a correction note.

Sponsorships, partners, and affiliate links

Running an independent publication costs money. We are transparent about where ours comes from.

  • Sponsored and branded content is labeled as sponsored, partner content, or paid partnership, at the top of the page or article and in any social post promoting it. The label appears before the content, not at the bottom.

  • We only partner with academies and schools we have evaluated ourselves. Before we publish a sponsored partner page, we review the program’s staff, credentials, methodology, and how it operates, and where possible we visit the facility in person. Where we have visited, we say so on the page. Evaluation is not a guarantee of outcomes, and we always encourage families to verify program details, costs, and supervision arrangements directly with the program before enrolling.

  • Partner-supplied content is attributed. When program descriptions, quotes, testimonials, or images on a partner page are provided by the partner rather than written by us, we say so on that page.

  • Partners do not get editorial control. Sponsors and partners have no advance review of, or influence over, our independent coverage. Paying for a sponsored placement does not buy favorable treatment elsewhere on the site, and it does not protect an organization from being covered critically.

  • Our directories are not for sale. Where we publish lists or directories of programs, paid partners are labeled as sponsored and everything else is listed editorially. No organization can pay to be added to, or moved up, an unpaid listing.

  • Listing is not endorsement. Publishing a page about a program, or including it in a directory, is not a ranking, a recommendation for any individual player, or a guarantee of any athletic or academic outcome.

  • Some links are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you buy something. This never determines whether or how we cover a product.

Covering youth players

Most of the people at the center of this sport are minors. We treat that seriously.

  • We do not publish identifying details about individual youth players — full name paired with school, club, town, or team — without consent from the family, or unless the information has already been made public by a league, club, or governing body in its own official communications.

  • We do not publish contact information for minors.

  • We use licensed, owned, or properly permissioned images, and we keep records of our licenses. We do not use photographs of identifiable minors in ways that suggest endorsement of a product or sponsor.

  • We do not use official third-party logos, event banners, or league graphics as though we were speaking for those organizations.

  • We remove or replace an image promptly if a rights question is raised.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to assist with production work — research organization, drafts, editing passes, and some illustration. Every published article is reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by a human editor before it goes live, and editorial judgment is always ours. Where an image is AI-generated, we say so.

Independence

We have no financial relationship with any governing body, league, or club that covers or conditions our reporting on them. Where a business relationship exists that a reader might reasonably want to know about, we disclose it in the article.
