TeamSnap and Major League Soccer have expanded their multi-year partnership, launching an exclusive training curriculum built from MLS NEXT material and delivered directly inside TeamSnap’s apps. The new content gives coaches of players from U13 through U19 access to custom drill videos and detailed practice plans across TeamSnap, its MOJO platform, and TeamSnap ONE.

What's New

The curriculum draws on MLS NEXT’s tactical and developmental coaching philosophy, the league’s top platform for elite youth player development in North America. It was filmed at the San Diego Soccer Academy, home training ground of San Diego FC, MLS’s newest expansion club, and features competitive Southern California players alongside MLS-affiliated coaches. One featured session, an MLS NEXT drill called “Attack the Box 4.2,” is already live in the app.

Completing the Development Ladder

This launch builds on two earlier releases: the MLS GO PLAYBOOK for recreational players ages 4–14, and at-home MLS NEXT training videos released this past spring. Together, the releases give TeamSnap an MLS-branded content pipeline spanning a player’s entire path, from a first recreational season at age 4 to pre-professional academy tactics at U19, all within one product ecosystem.

The Business Behind the Deal

The partnership traces back to 2023, when TeamSnap acquired MOJO Sports, bringing MLS content into the TeamSnap family of apps. TeamSnap says it reaches more than 19,000 youth sports organizations and over 30 million parents, players, and coaches, with brands committing more than $20 million in youth sports sponsorships through its platforms. Financial terms of the expanded deal were not disclosed.

MLS's Access Play

Ali Curtis, MLS EVP of Sporting Development and President of MLS NEXT Pro, framed the release as an access strategy – putting league-branded coaching methodology in front of the volunteer coaches who run the overwhelming majority of youth soccer programs nationally.

Open Question: Real-World Adoption

Neither company has published usage figures for the earlier MLS GO or spring MLS NEXT at-home releases, so how much this elite-level curriculum actually reaches typical recreational and competitive fields remains unverified. Access to the practice-plan and video library requires a TeamSnap+ subscription, which while not super-expensive could still shape how broadly volunteer coaches take up the new content.
