US Youth Soccer Grassroots Symposium 2026 Aims to Turn World Cup Momentum Into Lasting Legacy
US Youth Soccer is using its 2026 Grassroots Symposium in Dallas as a post-World Cup momentum-building event, bringing together more than 400 leaders a month after the tournament to focus on what comes next for the game’s long-term legacy.
The gathering, set for August 27–29, is framed around the theme “Moving Legacy Forward” and is designed as a working weekend rather than a standard conference.
US Youth Soccer says it will bring together leaders from youth soccer organizations, state associations, community clubs, Football for Good groups, philanthropy, education, public policy, and sport innovation to discuss how the World Cup’s attention can translate into lasting community impact.
Why it matters
The organizers say the goal is to ensure the excitement around the 2026 FIFA World Cup becomes sustained investment in participation, safer and more inclusive environments, better coach and organizational development, and stronger facilities and community partnerships.
That broader legacy focus also potentially aligns with a new, more accessible system U.S. Soccer has indicated is coming in the months ahead, which adds to the sense that the sport may be entering a major reset phase.
Inclusive framing
It wasn’t immediately clear so we asked if parents are invited. The response was “Any and everyone dedicated to growing the game we love is welcome.” This seems to reflect a deliberate effort to make the event feel broad-based and community-facing rather than limited to administrators. The federation’s own materials also emphasize belonging, wellbeing, climate and sustainability, and leadership and innovation as core themes for the weekend.
