As a parent, there are few things more rewarding than watching your child grow through the game of soccer. You see their joy, their determination, and perhaps even wonder where this passion might take them. At FC Bayern, we believe every child’s journey is unique and our goal is to provide meaningful opportunities for every stage of that journey.
At FC Bayern, the idea of player development goes far beyond simple drills, isolated repetitions, or short-term victories. Our goal is not only to win games but to form players who understand soccer deeply – athletes who can make their own decisions under pressure, display intelligence and dynamism, and bring the right mentality to every situation. The focus is always on the player, and on shaping individuals capable of thriving at the highest level on and off the field – independent personalities who are strong enough to make their own choices and take responsibility for them, both in football and life.
This belief is what drives the FC Bayern Pathway – the bridge between grassroots and elite. It’s a connected journey that gives players, parents, and clubs in North America authentic access to FC Bayern’s expertise and methodology.
The Pathway is a truly global initiative, led by Lars Weichert, Head of International Youth Soccer, who works closely with everyone at the FC Bayern Campus to ensure every program reflects our values and maintains a direct link to Munich.
Through our programs, families can experience what defines our club’s approach: authentic access to FC Bayern coaches and philosophy, a focus on development over hype, and a connected ecosystem that ensures every step of the Pathway builds on the one before it.
A Decade in the U.S. – Building Local Roots, Global Connections
Since opening our New York office in 2014, we’ve had the privilege of connecting with thousands of families across the country. Along the way, we’ve discovered something powerful: while every parent dreams big for their child, each family’s goals are unique. Some want their children to experience the game in a fun, inspiring way; others see soccer as a path to education or even a professional career. Our Pathway programs were designed with exactly these families in mind.
Supported by our network of affiliate clubs and partners across the country, the FC Bayern Pathway connects players at all levels – from local community soccer to professional development in Munich – with one consistent goal: helping every player reach their full potential, step by step.
1. FC Bayern Soccer Camps – Where Every Journey Begins
For most players, their introduction to the FC Bayern family starts through our FC Bayern Soccer Camps. Working closely with our affiliate clubs, we bring FC Bayern’s coaching philosophy and methodology directly to local communities across the United States.
These camps offer more than just soccer training. They provide a positive, motivating environment where children can fall in love with the game while learning the values that define FC Bayern: teamwork, respect, and discipline. Every session follows the same principles used at our academy in Munich, adjusted to each player’s age and ability.
Our coaches focus on both soccer and personal growth, because true development happens when a child learns to think, decide, and act with confidence – on and off the ball. For many families, this is the first step into the FC Bayern ecosystem, where players can continue their journey through our affiliate network and future programs.
In January 2026, we’ll take this experience one step further with our first-ever FC Bayern Elite Residential Camp in Chula Vista, California. This exclusive camp will allow players to train under the guidance of FC Bayern Legend Diego Contento, FC Bayern II Goalkeeper Coach Jaroslav Drobny, and additional Academy coaches from Munich. Players will live and train in a professional environment modeled after the FC Bayern Campus — experiencing firsthand what it means to train like a pro.

2. FC Bayern Youth Cup – The Competitive Step Forward
For players ready for a more competitive experience, the FC Bayern Youth Cup offers an incredible opportunity. Through our affiliate clubs and Soccer Camps, U16 players are invited to the U.S. National Final. From there, the best players represent the United States as a team in Munich, competing against teams from around the world.
This experience embodies the spirit of the FC Bayern Pathway where the focus is not on fanfare, but on meaningful player development. Competing internationally fosters character, maturity, and confidence. Many players return home transformed – equipped with a broader understanding and a renewed sense of what’s possible in their soccer and academic journeys.
3. Global Academy & World Squad – The Next Level of Development
For the small number of players who demonstrate exceptional potential and commitment, the next step of the Pathway leads directly to Munich. Our Global Academy (U18) and World Squad (U19) programs immerse players in the professional environment of the FC Bayern Campus.
The Global Academy offers a prestigious eight-month residential program, where players live, train, and learn alongside some of Europe’s most talented young athletes – continuing their education while developing under the same methodology as our professional teams – fully integrated as an additional squad within one of Europe’s most forward-thinking and respected academies.
The FC Bayern World Squad unites top prospects from across the globe. Former Bayern striker Roy Makaay leads the team as head coach, joined by Diego Contento as assistant. Each year, the team holds a training camp abroad before facing Bayern’s U19s in Munich during the summer.
Several players have already demonstrated what a huge platform the project offers: Daniel Francis from Nigeria was signed by FC Bayern and currently plays for Wacker Innsbruck, Victor Orakpo, named MVP of the Youth Cup and selected for the World Squad, went on to sign a three-year contract with a club in France’s top division shortly after completing the program. Most recently, Maycon Douglas Cardozo advanced from the Global Academy to our U17s to the U19 squad and is already earning his first training minutes alongside stars like Harry Kane and Luis Díaz.
These programs represent the highest level of our connected ecosystem, showing that from grassroots to elite, every FC Bayern experience is part of one continuous pathway. Once in, always with FC Bayern.
A Partnership Between Families, Clubs, and FC Bayern
What makes the FC Bayern Pathway in the U.S. unique is the collaboration behind it. Our affiliate clubs form the foundation of this journey, ensuring that families and players have access to authentic FC Bayern training and guidance close to home. Together, we’re creating a network where every young player can grow no matter their starting point.
Each step of the Pathway connects seamlessly, from local Soccer Camps to elite programs in Munich. It’s a real, connected journey — a bridge between grassroots and elite — and every family that joins becomes part of the FC Bayern story.
To ensure a clear next step for our most talented players, we have established a strategic partnership with Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), one of Major League Soccer’s most forward-thinking clubs. Together, we operate a joint venture focused on elite youth development, creating new opportunities for top talents to progress within both clubs’ systems.
This collaboration allows our players to benefit from shared resources, expertise, and development pathways, linking the FC Bayern Campus in Munich with LAFC’s high-performance infrastructure in the United States. Through this partnership, we aim to identify and nurture exceptional young players, giving them the opportunity to grow in professional environments on both continents under world-class coaching and shared football values.
A Message to Parents
Choosing the right program for your child is an important decision. My advice:
- Start where you are. Our Soccer Camps offer a perfect introduction without long-term pressure.
- Follow your child’s passion. The most successful players are those who love what they do.
- Think beyond the field. Character, discipline, and curiosity matter as much as skill.
- Be patient. Every player’s development curve is different — and that’s okay.
At FC Bayern, we see every young player as more than just an athlete. They are individuals with dreams, values, and potential. Whether your child’s goal is to play college soccer, pursue a professional career, or simply experience the joy of the game, we’ve built a Pathway designed to support that journey – from grassroots to elite.
